I can't compare to other VCS, but for my own working and personal projects
I have this observation:

* for small projects packs-repo bigger than knits-repo, because of indices.
* for average projects it's allmost equivalent
* for bzr.dev packs-repo is smaller than knits one.

But actually numbers are not very different: 10-20%.
