I plan to get the pack repository merged (but still labelled
experimental) so that it's easier for folk to contribute to it - e.g. to
allow packs to store additional deltas beyond knits, like backward
deltas, mpdiffs, or to have split inventories, and so on and so forth.

I also plan to nag someone into writing me a faaast index layer.
