I'm a big believer in incremental patches, so if you're at a good
pausing place, it might be worth it to integrate now (only fixing a
few of the encoding bugs), and then work on the rest, instead of
waiting until everything's perfect, which may take forever. But
that's just a suggestion.
I guess we should figure out the unit test hang first though, so I'll
email about that separately.
