Yes, that sounds good.  Would help people write meaningful commit
messages, too.

That's the idea, yes.  "alias" connotes "easier-to-type name" to me,
while "display name" connotes "easier-to-understand name", but that may
just be Arch-related brain damage.  Oh, I guess display names tend to
supercede the real names, while aliases coexist with real names.
