I agree. Using the ubuntuteam ppa was the first article I ran across to
replace the snap package.  I was just about to remove it and install
directly from Mozilla itself when I had this idea to try the old tarball
installation, which worked.  Had that failed, I would have done exactly
what you suggested, but no need at this point.
