Many thanks again Chris. MY PC has had Xubuntu happily installed since the
day it was built in Jan 2021 and then it was last Monday (10th June) when
the black screen issue suddenly came from nowhere!
I've kept a copy of the previous grub file and then updated it with your
suggestion, did sudo update-grub and then re-booted - and it was all fine
as per my last email. So I'm assuming I should leave those grub changes in
place now.
Does the noacpi affect anything else, like fans?
I'm thinking (just early thoughts) on setting a day aside in the near
future to do a completely clean install using 24.04. Sometimes good to
clear stuff out and start afresh.
Cheers
Dave
