[xubuntu-users] no more applications menu after upgrade to Xubuntu 22.04

After an upgrade from Xubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 there is no more the
applications menu on right mouse click in background or [Alt] [F1]

I also tried to start it via bash with xfce4-popup-applicationsmenu:
Nothing happens, I get instantly the prompt back and the exit status $? 
is 0. 

What happend?
How can I debug it?
