[xubuntu-users] Sound on Chromebook

Hi
I have installed the latest LTS version of Xubuntu (20.04) on my (relatively) old Acer Chromebook CB3-111, completely removing ChromeOS. Everything works fine except that there is no sound. I have searched and found that this is a common issue when installing on Chromebooks. I have also installed and tried GalliumOS which works for sound but is getting old and does not have the latest applications. So I will stay with Xubuntu. However what I don't understand is that, having run the command inxi -SMA I get the following feedback:
Audio:
Device-1: Intel Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series High Definition Audio
driver: snd_hda_intel
Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.11.0-37-generic
So, if the audio device has been identified and the driver is known, why could it not be working?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Steve
