[xubuntu-users] No keyboard, no mouse. Inactivity timer drives me nuts!

While working, using the mouse and or keyboard, everything works fine.
However, after a short period of minutes without activity, mouse clicks
and keyboard strokes are blocked. Whatever I click or type: nothing
happens. The mouse can be moved and the keyboard reacts to numlock and
capslock. If I do ctrl-alt-f1, I can use the keyboard. If I do
ctrl-alt-f7, keyboard events and mouse events are blocked.
How can I kill the inactivity mechanism permanently? I don't need it.
I've turned off screen savers, etc., trying to solve this.
Additional, it is a fresh install 20.04.1, I am building this system:
https://vanderworp.org/en/amd-pro-4650g-workhorse/
Installing 20.10 resulted in a kernel panic before even installing, grub
was visible without an option to install or try, just the normal flavor
(ubuntu and so on). So I fell back on 20.04.1 amd64.
Help, some thoughts, would really be appreciated. BIG THANKS!!
