The "hook" comes when make a choice about replacing installed software. Choose "something else" and install to the partition whee PCLOS resides. Of course, backup no matter how you install.

Subject: [xubuntu-users] dual-boot install with Win7
I currently have a dual-boot install with PCLinuxOS and Win7, it works fine. But I want to replace the PCLOS partition with Xubuntu. I can't exactly remember how I got this dual-boot to work. Format the PCLOS partition in hopes that the Xbuntu installer will be happy to be pointed there? What about the system hook (can't remember what it's called) that shows the 2 OS choices right in booting after the BIOS option. What do I need to do with that?
