[xubuntu-users] Screen resolution problem

maybe there's a similar file somewhere under root that supersedes
the other file? Maybe you have another display manager than xfce4?
could you look through your file system and find all files that have
the string that comes back into your 'displays/xml'?
FYI I'm not an expert at these things, I just had a similar problem to yours
and found happiness with the file I mentioned. There are lots of places where
such files may be hidden, notably in /etc. To my mind it would be
a good thing if all linux distributions, and all display managers, and
lots of other
software that used configurations, could agree on one single place
where all this
is stored. Oh well....
