[xubuntu-users] Garmin sat nav updates using WINE

I was wondering if using wine was possible to use for map updates.

For about three years I have been using OpenStreet map data which I
found excellent on a 52LM (about 4-5 years old now). More recently I
decided to get a 65LM as for me the bigger screen is a benefit for my
work. It was a bombshell to learn that the 65LM will only work with
limited features - gone are; road speed limits, distance to junction
icon, and up-a-head details.

So I was wondering if using wine was a good idea and if anyone on here
has done it. I found the method of downloading OSM and copying it to
the SDcard so quick and easy. I drive about 100000 miles a year and
have found the 52LM almost without fault. Have tried some of the
phone app satnavs but still prefer the Garmin for daily use.

I am not that Linux knowledgeable so would be grateful for any advice.
