[xubuntu-users] 15.10 enigmail/pinentry problem

Hi all:

I'm not a developer, so I'm not up on the details of how to post bug
reports.

But, on 15.10 with Thunderbird, enigmail seems to be broken. Whenever
gpg-agent is invoked, I'm getting a dialog box for a passphrase that has
pinentry across the title bar (in previous versions of xubuntu, the
dialog box has nothing inside the title bar). In the dialog box labeled
pinentry, nothing I type is accepted. All I can do is click on the
Accept or Cancel buttons. And, since no passphrase can be entered,
clicking on Accept does nothing. So, all I can actually do is click
Cancel. As a result, enigmail is not working for actual encryption of
signature of an e-mail message in Thunderbird.

On 14.04, I'm not having any problems.

I believe the problem is with pinentry. For some reason, the wrong or
bugged version is running. When I invoke pinetry via terminal command on
14.04 I get no errors. On 15.10, here is what happens:

> victor at juicy:/usr/bin$ ls pin
> pinentry pinentry-gtk-2 pinentry-x11 pinky
> victor at juicy:/usr/bin$ ./pinentry-x11

FYI, 14.04 is running 0.8.3 of pinentry while 15.10 is running 0.9.5.

Thanks,
Victor
