[xubuntu-users] desktop wallpaper disappeared

Good evening.
I am using (not really) xubuntu 14.04 on a notebook computer.
I had set up 2 workspaces with different wallpapers.

2-3 days ago, I opened the computer after a while (I did not do or
change anything) and noticed,
the wallpapers (both!) were gone.
AND, I CAN NOT set a new one.
How does something like this happen and how do fix it?

Update: completed today, but does not change anything.
