I gave up on Thunar long ago and deleted it. Dolphin is bigger and
slower, but it reads everything, mounts and unmounts USBs and CDs and
DVDs without complaining, and it can open my SMB shares in the office (I
work with Windows users), and it has a split screen so I can drag and
drop stuff from one place to another reliably. I wish it was faster and
didn't gobble so much memory, but I'm happy to pay that price for just
being able to work without worrying about it.

Having said that, I only use it about twice a week, as I prefer the
commandline or dir-mode in Emacs for most file manipulation.
