yes this is possible.  If you are programing the play/pause media key or 
what to custom program your own keys.  First read the man pages on 
gmusicbrowser

    man gmusicbrowser

and you will find near the bottom the topic of this command

    CMD >~/.gmusicbrowser/gmusicbrowser.fifo

you will be using the PlayPause command in the above. Next open the 
settings manager window in the "start" button bottom right trio of 
buttons far left button.

    All Settings ->(hardware)Keyboard->Application Shortcuts

Click the Add button and type (cut and paste) the command:

    PlayPause >~/.gmusicbrowser/gmusicbrowser.fifo

which should toggle the Play/Pause function.  Click next and push the 
key you want assigned.  In my personal case the play/pause media button 
shows as "XF86AudioPlay".  Once you push the buttons your command will 
be listed and you can try it out.  If you are concerned with impacting 
other programs the play/pause does work with the use a custom combo like 
ctrl+shft+p or something. HIH.
