Hi,
the following works for the whisker menu, which is the default menu for
14.04 and can be installed in earlier version via a PPA.
Go to the keyboard settings, on the second tab click add. When it asks
for the command use xfce4-popup-whiskermenu, then pick the shotcut of
your choice. I use Super+less for it as it is easy to hit those with one
stroke.
