Roger,
My 12.04 has an network icon on the top, (mine is next to sound level
icon), click the up/down arrows for the network connection. Then Click
on Edit connections. I only have a Wired tab with Wired connection 1,
whatever your connection is, Click it to highlight, then Click edit.
Another edit window will appear. I clicked the IPv4 Settings and change
the Method: Drop-down to Automatic (DHCP)Addresses only
Note:changing the method allowed me to enter a DNS server in that block
I entered 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 in the DNS server block
The other blocks were empty and I checked BOX require IPv4 addressing
for this connection to complete, (It didn't work w/o that check box check).
Also, Connect Automatically should be checked.
Click Save
Click Close
Click the network icon again to enable the new DNS server by disconnect
& connecting again.
This fixed my network DNS problems. There were some sites that I could
not access through my ISP - epbfi.com
