[xubuntu-users] Difference between etc/xdg/ and /etc/xdg/xdg-xubuntu

I am not qualified as a Linux/Ubuntu systems guy, but I have worked with
systems for 20+ years..
I can offer this bit of Logic that I would use.
First and Foremost, I would verify the files you listed, make sure they
are files and not File Pointers / Links
Then the next option would be to follow system wide practices. (Check File
Dates)
Logic would also push me to drop the custom file in the 1st folder that
would be searched by the system paths.
Also think about conflicts.
...Will this file be over written by a system tool or other app?
...Will this file be ignored by the system if settings are read from
another config file?
...Answers to these may require the file to be dropped in the last search
path.
