[xubuntu-users] Alternative display managers that work with 14.10

I want to try other display managers with xubuntu 14.10 but most fail
to work at all, I've tried:-

    xdm - just hangs at the xubuntu 'wheel'
    ldm - ditto
    wdm - ditto
    gdm - works but brings in loads of dependencies like Evolution
            which I'd rather not have

Are there any reasonably lightweight display managers other than
lightdm which actually work with xubuntu?
