Hi There
I have been using ubuntu distributions now for a while (10 years - still
a newbie as I've had very little problems for years(love it)) and
recently( about 6months ago) my updates and installing new software take
ages...days for only KB of updates????
I have tried changing the mirrors....tried a different one every day for
months...no change
I even tried different linux computers...I have converted many a windows
user to linux and they are all having the same issues, with various
ubuntu distros on different computers using different routers and
internet speeds.... (10.04 x/ubuntu to 14.04....)
Some of theese people have also tried different download mirrors with no
change....
So it is in my opinion that due to all these random computers and
internet access points there is a fault with the mirrors or
something....Searching the internet, I have read about IVP6 could be an
issue...not sure what to do about that. the only other common
denominator with all these systems is that they all reside in South
Africa and all our internet/phone call traffic is routed through our
only landline telecommunications provider telkom....
This is frustrating because I am in the process of installing Xubuntu
onto another laptop and can't go further without updates!....
IS there a solution to this ?
Thank you all
Teague
Xubuntu 14.04
