[xubuntu-users] Xubuntu 14.04 sound problems

I was trying to clear the following sound issues in 14.04 as
distribution upgraded from 13.10 which was working fine.
The sound has a gargle quality when playing a YouTube video under
html5 (no flash). Moving the mouse constantly almost clears the sound
and if you scroll the video player area up, the sound clears fully.
Have swapped pci slots with no help. Was fine under 13.10.
Issue also with Parole not playing cd. Gives "gstreamer backend error-
could not handle CDDA uri.
Rythmbox on 13.10 was fine playing cds prior to the distribution
upgrade.
