I don't remember how to do it for the mouse and I don't have time to
search my old Linux backups or to search the mailing lists archives.

There likely is information about the needed package and an example
xorg.conf.

I'm not willing to read the thread, to take care when the thread is
broken and find out where it continues and to investigate to find all
the sub-threads.
