It might be better to first defragment the Windows partition/s. Shrink the  
Windows system/boot partition at it's end, not at the beginning. I don't  
know the Windows bootloader, but e.g. Linux GRUB bootloader does hardcode  
the start point and needs to be rewritten, when moving the beginning of a  
boot partition.

The Linux GRUB bootloader will generate a menu to boot Xubuntu and to  
chainload the Windows bootloader automagically.

A Note: Other than e.g. Windows and FreeBSD, a bootable Linux does _not_  
need to be installed to a primary partition, it can be installed to  
extended partitions too.

FWIW assumed you'll wipe out everything, then I would keep MBR and not  
switch to LVM, but this is a matter of taste.
