[xubuntu-users] Printer query

I have been using the HP Photosmart 5520 printer for some time now. It 
works as expected from the attached desktop computer. Duplex works for 
me when I want it, scanning is fine and normal printing is also fine.

I have set up printer sharing in CUPS. In the laptop I have also set up 
printer sharing. When I try to print something from the laptop it all 
seems to go OK. It finds the right printer in the right place and I 
click on OK to print.

Nothing happens. When, in the laptop I check the printer queue, the file 
is there with a line saying 'Connecting to printer'. There is also a 
message window telling me 'Printer Photosmart 5520 may not be 
connected'. And that is where it stays.

In the end I just cancel the job, it is not going anywhere.

If you check my other replies to this thread you will see that there 
seems to be some sort of problem with Xubuntu 12.04 and printer sharing. 
And yet one person says that he is using that version with no problem??!!
