[xubuntu-users] Version 12.04 - and wifi

I have used Linux for about 13 years now. Have also set up wife and
daughter on it. I have tried various distros over the years, but I have
now settled on Xubuntu.

I bought a new laptop for my daughter last summer and installed Xubuntu
12.04 (an LTS version). She was living at home then, has since got
married and so now lives about 15 miles away. She has never had any
problems with wifi, or anything else come to that.

I use a desk top so I am linked to the router via a cable, so that works
of course. I have also settled on Xubuntu 12.04.

My wife was running an old version of Mint Xfce so I have persuaded her
to upgrade. I have now installed Xubuntu 12.04 on her laptop. I linked
it to the router via a cable while I was installing. Now that I am
trying to set up wifi I am being told that no wifi can be found. Looking
at Google it seems that there is some problem with this version. Is that
correct?

Can anyone suggest where I should look now please? Perhaps I should
install version 12.10 instead if that works with wifi??

Thanks,

Neil
