[xubuntu-users] Encryption

I used KDE for many years but I have now moved over to Xubuntu. Should
have done it years ago. I am used to being able to encrypt files using
kgpg and symmetric encryption. I know that I could install kgpg now, but
that would mean installing akonadi which I don't want to do.

Is there an equivalent program to kgpg which I could use? I have heard
about one called seahorse and also gnupg shell, and yet another called gpa.

I am now feeling a bit lost. Can anyone advise me please? Meanwhile I am
managing using a terminal screen.

Thanks

Neil
