Those are two commands.  First, mdadm to create a single partition out of

multiple disks.  Then the mkfs command to format the newly created

partition.

Yes, kind of.  Gparted is a GUI which allows you to easily resize, create,

delete, and in general alter partions.  The actual commands are given

within the gparted terminal after a process is started from mkfs, to fdisk,

or e2fsck.  If you are not familiar with these commands, among others, I

would suggest using gparted.  Otherwise go ahead and use another method for

resizing a disk.
