[xubuntu-users] Sound Muted on Bootup

Both my Karmic Xubuntu computers have the sound muted (and volume=0) when
they boot up.
This has happened from the time I installed Karmic on both of them.
I haven't worried about it until now because I thought a patch might fix
this.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I think that (G)Ubuntu Karmic and does not have this problem.
PulseAudio is installed.
