[xubuntu-users] Wrong Xubuntu entry in startup menu

I installed Xubuntu 9.10 but on the startup menu it appears as Ubuntu,
Linux 2.6.31 ...
This entry now occurs twice in the startup menu because I had already
Ubuntu 9.10 installed on another partition.
I can change the first Ubuntu entry to Xubuntu in /boot/grub/grub.cfg
but that lasts only until the next sudo update-grub command.
So the question is, where does update-grub get wrong information about
Xubuntu?
