[xubuntu-users] Confused about VLC

Hello All,

   Not too long ago, I "found out" about VLC being able to record 
streams. My player even had the red button. Well, my box pulled a 
meltdown...unrelated to VLC.
   Now I'm running 8.04 again and the player is 0.8.6e, but there's no 
sign of recording anything.
   So I think my question could be two-fold:
1)Do I need a different version of VLC
and/or
2)Do I need a different version of Xubuntu

??
