Versions of Slackware 13.0 and earlier have xorg.conf. Later versions
don't. So maybe an earlier version of a Debian derivative will have
xorg.conf. Knoppix does I know.

Eliminating xorg.conf was one of those fixes of something that wasn't
broken in the first place.

Of course there is a limit to the screen resolution of your monitor
and video card.
