I wondered if there's a way I can search for a file or folder with the locate command or something like it from Xubuntu? So is there a way to search for files in an ntfs partition from Xubuntu? Thanks.

I use catfish (find works well) or FSlint to search for eg duplicates.
Both are not really fast, but work fine with ntfs. I'm using it for
external ntfs hard drive.
hope this helps
