Google's Chromium browser is very light-weight. On Xubuntu 9.10 you can
install it by first adding the download location to
Applications->System->Software Sources, click the tab Other Software, click
Add and add ppa:chromium-daily/ppa . Click Close, then Reload, and then you
can install the package chromium-browser through
Applications->System->Synaptic Package Manager.

Alternatively, you could try GNOME's browser, Epiphany Browser, which you
can just install through Applications->Add/Remove...
