[xubuntu-users] Evolution problem, can't get European date format

I am running Evolution (GNOME evolution 2.24.3) in xubuntu 8.10 and I
just can't persuade it to use/display dates in European (DD/MM/YYYY)
format.  They are stuck obstinately in US format (MM/DD/YYYY).

My locale *everywhere* is set to en_GB.UTF-8 and everything else on my
system has dates in European format.

Is this a bug in Evolution or am I doing something wrong?
