[xubuntu-users] Does fast user switching work with Xubuntu?

I'm using xdm to manage logins for users of a machine that has Xubuntu,
Kubuntu, Ubuntu (gnome), enlightenment, etc. I also have a separate
Xubuntu + beryl option.

If I log in as one user, then switch to a second user, everything goes
along fine.  Then if I try to get back to the first user's session, I find
that everything has frozen, and I have to reboot.

I'm not certain, but it appears that the Xserver is restarting during the
switch back (even though I have checked an option that says not to do
this).

If I use kdm, I can do this fine in kde, so it seems to be a problem
specific to gdm/Xubuntu.

Are there options apart from gdm and kdm?
