[xubuntu-users] CD Booting turns off monitor

Hi,
I've got a Viewsonic widescreen LCD running on a desktop PC (Asus-Nvidia
chipset mainboard, MSI-Nvidia chipset video).
I boot the xubuntu CD and see the logo, then briefly a flashing white dash
in upper left of black screen, then my monitor turns off ("no signal"
message). The CD continues to be accessed for a while then it just stops.
I have no screen. I can drop to commandline (monitor then turns on) with
CTRL-ALT-F1.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this so that I can actually boot into
graphical xubuntu? BTW, I did the CD integrity check (twice) and it found
no errors. I also tried inserting "screen=1440x900" (this is my monitor's
optimal resuolution) just before the word "splash" in the boot
commandline, but with the same result.
Thanks for any help!
-Steve.
