[xubuntu-users] network profiles - does Xubuntu have them?

Hi folks

I'm a recent convert from Mandriva since 2007 doesn't play nicely with
my trusty T23. I've been using various distros for about 15 years so
I'm not exactly a newbie bur I'm far from being a guru.

So far I'm impressed with what I see, its nice to find a distro
that 'targets' the old age pensioners of the hardware world but I have
a little problem that I can't suss out

Whenever I login I get the following error message

Could not look up internet address for henry.
This will prevent Xfce from operating correctly.
It may be possible to correct the problem by adding
henry to the file /etc/hosts on your system.

I go to system/networking and alter the DNS servers, add a domain name
and add 'henry' to the host and everything works fine but all these
alterations are lost when I logout.

How do I retain these alterations

Cheers
Nigel
