Few tens of MBs isn't going to make any real difference.  Systems
having 256 MB memory are as likely to have integrated graphics as not,
so I think that Inti's test result was completely valid.

Live CD GUI isn't really lighter [1] than installed Xubuntu system
and for latter we recommend 512 MB...

[1] even if it doesn't run every always-running program that installed
Xubuntu does, live CD setup has extra things that can need a lot of memory.
