No idea :)
Ok it looks like both the old and current packages are on the CDs

Alternate

They seem to have both gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver, squeeze and
file-roller.
Maybe some of this caused the recent overflow of alternate ISOs ?

Indeed, my bad. It seems it takes into account the seeds, but until
xubuntu-desktop is uploaded all its dependencies are naturally still
present. So current Xubuntu CD testers have choice of both gnome and non
gnome apps for now :)
