Why does Xubuntu desktop look like GNOME?

I don't have a problem with that... I was just voicing that it looked to me
like there was an (somewhat obvious) attempt to make XFCE 'look' like
Ubuntu's GNOME, when really if Xubuntu strives to be its own animal it
should take itself in its own direction... not unnecessarily towards Ubuntu.
