If you are on dapper edit /usr/share/gdm/themes/xubuntu/Xubuntu.xml with
root privileges.
At line 120 in the password bix entry there's the username label. I made the
color 0xffffff
but since you can modify in place and then run
$gdmthemetester flexi xubuntu
and see the result, you maybe have other ideas to make the colors in that
screen fit better together.
If not I'll just upload the white username fix.
