I think this is an important point to make in the minds of people
thinking about Upstart. Does Upstart attempt to solve these problems for
us? I don't think so. I think Cups, and other similar software, still
needs to be updated to auto detect/scan hardware, and I don't think
Upstart automatically provides this. Upstart does however make
bootstrapping Cups itself easier. It can make sure Cups is running when
any printer hardware is altered. Cups can't do that itself, because it's
not yet running. Hence the current situation with cups running whether
there is a printer or not.
