Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

Installed UNR 9.10 on a netbook that already had Windows 7 on it. After
finishing the install, I cannot boot into it. Selecting the
2.6.31-14-generic kernel from Grub2 only leads to the system restarting
(or very rarely, just displaying a blank screen with a blinking cursor
on it). The symptoms are very close to those of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/465350 with the
exception that on my system removing the splash option from the line
that loads the kernel won't work either. Thus I'm completely shut out of
my new Ubuntu installation.

Ironically enough, GRUB detected Windows 7 just fine and manages to boot
into it without a problem, so my problem seems to be pretty much the
opposite of just about everyone else running Karmic and Windows 7 as
dual-boot.

** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
