There's much less in this directory that it used to be. On a dapper computer:
ls -R
.:
cdebconf  hardware-summary  lsb-release  messages  partman  status  syslog

./cdebconf:
questions.dat  templates.dat

On a jaunty system:
ls -R
.:
casper.log  initial-status.gz  partman  syslog  version

I think the configuration information in
/var/log/installer/cdebconf/questions.dat would be the intersting
file.

As I said, I don't think this is a bug in your case. You should ask
general questions in a forum, not in a bug report.
