Thank you for reporting this bug and finding out that the problem was the Driver line in xorg.conf. My expectation would be that after the installation, there would be no Driver line at all. The ubuntu installation apparently adds this extra line, which probably shouldn't be there. Can you do two tests to verify that Xorg itself is doing what it is supposed to?
1. Remove the Driver line from xorg.conf, log out and in again and verify that /var/log/Xorg.0.log now reports that you are using the intel driver (and everything else works as expected).
2. Rename /etc/X11/xorg.conf to something else and verify that when you log out and in again, a new xorg.conf is created which looks like the one you have, but without the Driver line.

My guess this bug really belongs with Ubiquity, but please do this tests
before we reassign.
