Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubuntu-xen-server
After I installed Xen on Ubuntu Hardy 64Bit I got the following message
when the system boots:
"IO-APIC + timer does not work! Boot with apic=debug and send a report. Then try rebooting with the noapic option"
"Rebooting in five seconds"
Trying to provide the kernel options "apic=debug" or "nopaic" does not
change a thing. Both options seems not to work for me.
When I start the normal server kernel the system boots fine and is
working as expected.
To test if it depends on Ubuntu I installed Debian lenny but with the
same results.
The system runs on an Asus M2N mainboard with an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2
Dual Core Processor 6000+ CPU.
By the way: rebooting the system in 5 seconds here, is not a good
choice. The system goes into an endless loop and I could read and
understand the message after 10 reboots. It would be better to wait
until someone presses a key and then the system should restart.
** Affects: xen-meta (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
