Sorry, I just found the answer:
+  * debian/rules: Remove --enable-dmo --enable-loader from i386
+    $(vlc_confflags). With the dh_install -si --fail-missing
+    semantics, arch-specific exceptions aren't possible. Fixes
+    FTBFS on i386.

Resetting the old value

       Status: New => Fix Released
