Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bcm43xx-fwcutter

This package failed to upgrade. I have 2 packages:
b43-fwcutter and b43xx-fwcutter

The b43-fwcutter is installed and the wireless card appears functional
but I am unable to test it due to lack of WAP and was unable to submit
the crash report during upgrade because the NIC(ethernet) went down
during upgrade.

Looking at dmesg, it appears the system has fallen back to the NDISwrapper module. Here's the dmesg:
[   22.824833] ndiswrapper: driver bcmwl5 (Broadcom,10/12/2006, 4.100.15.5) loaded
[   22.825244] ndiswrapper 0000:04:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
[   22.825314] ndiswrapper 0000:04:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
[   22.825429] ndiswrapper 0000:04:00.0: setting latency timer to 64
[   22.830587] ndiswrapper: using IRQ 17
[ 23.028928] wlan0: ethernet device 00:1e:4c:8e:9f:a0 using NDIS driver: bcmwl5, version: 0x4640f05, NDIS version: 0x501, vendor: 'NDIS Network Adapter', 14E4:4311.5.conf
[   23.029261] wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP; TKIP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK; AES/CCMP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK

In synaptic, b43xx-fwcutter appears but has no information about it
except the version, "1:006-3(now)".
