[Bug 299664] [NEW] Video playback stops in Intrepid when playing DVD in VLC

Public bug reported:

VLC starts playing DVD but after a few seconds both video and sound stop. Application itself doesn't freeze and continue to work as it should (except for the playing part).
DVD plays fine in the Dragon Player.
I tried to delete ~/.config/vlc but it didn't help.

Intrepid installation is an upgrade from hardy, which was an upgrade
from Feisty. PC is a HP 6715b notebook.
